irascibility contained

the crickets have taken up
their
nighttime serenade;
wal-mart employees have restocked
the seasonal shelves
with
back-to-school supplies
and i am reminded
that time's endless march
continues,
dragging summer along with her
to fight the irascibility
that accompanies summer's end
i quote scripture
be joyful always....
and remember
fresh tomatoes
a week-long beach trip with the finley family
my boys' concert tonight at chick-fil-a
a stack of books waiting
and
faith that god is already at work
on the upcoming school year
and God is able to bless you abundantly,
so that
in all things at all times,
having all that you need,
you will abound in
every
good
work

  1. It's going by too fast, isn't it? I am trying to sloooooow down and relish summer's gifts. Being up in the Minnesota woods helped -- time seems slower there!

  2. I sure hope that He's already at work for the next school year...there are issues that I just don't want to think about yet...and I'm praying that He does intervene!

    Lovely post today...great thoughts.

  8. It's hard to live in the moment when everything around us seems to say go go.
I like that as I'm typing this I see your sunset photo below, a never rushed miracle. Like the sunrise. It's up to us to try and do the same a bit in between, no?
    It's hard.
Glad to hear you are having a wonderful summer.
