boasted a list of
seven woes
including
change
despair
fear
feeling certain of my age
you know
the usual guest list
for a pity party
i even had the music -
heard barry manilow
at rite-aid
but hope arrived
(even though
i had not invited her)
and cleared the room
and the evening looks
brighter
now
so, did you read the title and think i was writing on revelation?
linking up with emily for imperfect prose.
and tiffini for word women wednesdays
and faith barista jam!
and critty joy for as of late!
and michelle for caffeinated randomness
and another linky! this one is fingerprint friday over at beki's!
I love this line:
ReplyDeletebut hope arrived
(even though

and cleared the room
I needed that :-)
I love the way that you put words together!
ReplyDeleteUm yes, I did think it was Revelations I would be hearing about. Nicely done. Love this.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE this type of poetry...It is like a morsel of truth and you just take me there!
ReplyDeletePS..I cracked up at you comment on Amy's post...I need to have you write a post from the other perspective I think? I personally - would love to hear someone who is not a perfectionist:)
xo:)
this made me smile!
ReplyDeletei came about it different, but we had the twin connection of i'm a twin, you're a twin this week:) hope was sunset and moon...
ReplyDeletei didn't think revelation, but i didn't stop long enough to think...
and was just at the new amway arena for the circus (in orlando) manilow's coming...we could pity party together;)
For some reason, I just love that you gave hope the female gender. I don't know why, but it struck me. And, I think it fits.
ReplyDeleteOh wow...SO glad hope came quickly!
ReplyDeleteI noticed your book and if you have a moment would really appreciate your thoughts on my post? I think you could really help me out! THANKS!
this is great. Isn't Hope wonderfully pushy?
ReplyDeletei love the above comment about hope being pushy!! hope and i--we've had our fights, to be sure. i love it when she wins. b/cs then i win, too.
ReplyDeleteso glad that hope arrived : )
ReplyDeleteloved this sweet and honest poem.
Barry Manilow, huh? Dan Fogelberg is definitely my woe-is-me go-to music (usually listened to in a dark room with a pillow over my head. So thankful for joy that comes in the morning.
ReplyDeleteah, perfect. i love it when hope clears a room.
ReplyDeleteSo thankful when . . . hope arrives.
ReplyDeleteThank you for sharing. BEAUTIFUL!
As always Kendal...so beautiful! I just love your poetry.
ReplyDeleteAnd the hope part was something I needed to read today :)
I find this sort of poetry so inspiration...random...like my thoughts! I love the part where hope came uninvited! Smiles to you for the weekend!
ReplyDeleteThere are times I too feel like hope has abandoned ship. Then she appears and I embrace her with enthusiasm. Thanks again for your beautiful prose.
ReplyDeletei love love love how hope arrived unannounced :) how the evening cleared. how much you say with this, kendal. well written, friend.
ReplyDeleteThank God for hope.
ReplyDeleteWe have paper whites blooming in the kitchen and they give me hope for spring, hope for a happy heart.
I love that line "hope arrived" Hope is my one word for 2011, and the imagery of it arriving and sweeping away the pity party is awesome.
ReplyDeleteI love when hope arrives on a breeze, unexpected and light. This is a beautiful poem-story, Kendal! Weekend blessings to you...
ReplyDeleteDon't you just love music at Rite-Aid? :)
ReplyDeleteI love the part about hope. The whole post was wonderful.

ReplyDeleteYou are so inspirational, Kendal!
ReplyDeleteI am loving all of your poetry Kendal. I especially loved your Isaiah post. I wish Spring would come soon too, although we've had a few days of above zero weather and it has been wonderful!
