seven woes

the first draft of this post
boasted a list of
seven woes
including
change
despair
fear
feeling certain of my age
you know
the usual guest list
for a pity party
i even had the music -
heard barry manilow
at rite-aid
but hope arrived
(even though
i had not invited her)
and cleared the room
and the evening looks
brighter
now

so, did you read the title and think i was writing on revelation?

linking up with emily for imperfect prose.

  4. I LOVE this type of poetry...It is like a morsel of truth and you just take me there!

PS..I cracked up at you comment on Amy's post...I need to have you write a post from the other perspective I think? I personally - would love to hear someone who is not a perfectionist:)

  6. For some reason, I just love that you gave hope the female gender. I don't know why, but it struck me. And, I think it fits.

  11. Barry Manilow, huh? Dan Fogelberg is definitely my woe-is-me go-to music (usually listened to in a dark room with a pillow over my head. So thankful for joy that comes in the morning.

  19. I love that line "hope arrived" Hope is my one word for 2011, and the imagery of it arriving and sweeping away the pity party is awesome.
