misplacing cats

i misplaced a couple of cats

yesterday....
despite the fact that i assured them
of the
safety
nourishment
and
fun
they would enjoy on our mountain
phyllis and cougar made a break for it
(they jumped off the high end of the porch)
before i could even initiate
a photo shoot
i've been shouting
here kitty, kitty, kitty
on and off for the last twenty-two hours
but alas,
i remain catless
and since i don't have a picture of the cats
i've included 
the drawing of me created by the six-year-oldwho gave me the cats
if this is how phyllis and cougar saw me
no wonder they jumped off the high end 
and
i misplaced a couple of cats
yesterday

Super Tuesday

Eight things I love about today:

1. No school!!!! Not sure what other counties do, but we shut down the schools on election day because we use the facilities for polling stations.
2. I finished a book yesterday - Surprised by Joy by C.S. Lewis. I'm reading The Lovely Bones today. Even though it gave me bad dreams, I love it. It's like an episode of Criminal Minds from the point of view of the deceased.
3. I get to have my hair cut. I love that girly time. I don't get much of that.
4. The boys mowed the grass.
5. I don't have any laundry to do!
6. I had an excellent run on my mountain this morning. I love the smell of the pine forest after a rain. I love it very much.
7. I've had time to read blogs today. I'm linking up to Emily's tuesdays unwrapped.
8. Jack and I went to the animal shelter to get ONE kitten yesterday. I couldn't separate brothers, so we came home with two! I'm enjoying them today. It's been a long time since we've had anything that scampered. Dale is on the left (or top, depending on your screen), Boomhauer on the right (or bottom). They are NEVER still, so these are the best shots I've got.
