slush

despite the
awesome
worshiping
snowman
in the yard
i'm ready for
spring
i hiked up the
slippery slushy
north-facing slope
to the top of the mountain
today
looking for signs
and
the snow had
melted there!
but
the wet leaves
carpeting the ridge
smelled like fall....
sigh
and the forsythia
aren't even whispering
about buds or balmy weather
thankfully it's
1000 gifts day
and
gratefulness serves
to remedy disappointment
so....

for these i am thankful:

30. martin luther king, jr.
31. chocolate chip cookie dough (from scratch)
32. my husband, chris, who makes me laugh every day
33. church
34. filling up
35. pouring out
36. my girl, the one i mentor, saying, "i want to get better." <3
37. god at work in the hearts of hank and jack (my boys)

linking up with ann voskamp for 1000 gifts and jen for soli deo gloria sisterhood:

  2. I finally felt the sun today (it's been near a week) and I just stood there, arms outstretched, literally soaking it up. My girls and other passer-byers must have thought I was crazy, but I wasn't going to miss a single drop.

Love the "God at work with Hank and Jack" and I love their names!

  6. It's been in the upper 50s here and I'm just hoping, hoping, hoping for spring to make a break. Then again, I'm heading to NY in March, so that might send me back into winter all over again.

I love the "I want to get better." It always seems that initial "want" is the biggest thing, right?

  8. Um, that could be the second best snowman I've ever seen (First place goes to myself and my daughter for making a snowman-styled Taylor Swift in a bikini). Admit it, that's a pretty good idea too.

  11. I love your line of the forsythia's silence.

Winter comes and goes here. I like the look of it, but not its feel.

This was the jewel, Kendra. Thanks for sharing it in the jam. Your words open so much encouragement.
