flood

two days before
christmas
and i find myself
awash in plenty
for
my dear
mother-in-law
stocked my pantry
seriously stocked my pantry

two days before
christmas
and i find myself
awash in joy
for
hank played guitar
at church
last night
despite the chipmunk cheeks
of oral surgery

two days before
christmas
and i find myself
awash in love
for
jack can't help grinning
(a new tin grin)
over the presents
he's giving

two days before
christmas
and i find myself
awash in awe
for
the Word became
flesh
and made his
dwelling among
us

  1. A beautiful poem! Two days before Christmas and I find myself awash in these very same gifts--a poignant reminder how we don't need to wait for Christmas to know Him. But it's a great time to share with others all that He gives. Blessings to you and your family!

  3. I think this is beautiful! We all have so many gifts BEFORE Christmas ever gets here. God is so good in the way he continually blesses us in so many different ways.

  4. Your humility is admirable. To be awash at Christmas - that's a sweet thing. Merry Christmas.

  9. I dunno.

I think you are doing yourself a dis by saying other writers are better.

    This was superb.

I came to visit from Dana's and even though I'm late your words spoke to my heart in a true and joyous fashion. This kind of writing is a gift, rejoice in your ability.

You have given me a lot to think about.

    Thank you for that.
