little foot

it was four months ago
when the first call came
a scared daddy
whose daughter
was whittled away
and he wondered...
could i talk to her?
and then she was there
on my phone
and i could only say
i understand
i know
and god has been faithful
filling me up
so
i can pour out
filling me up
so
i can pour out
and it's now
and she's away for a while
but she can call me at night
and i will say
i know
i understand
and
i will pray-
god,
fill
her
up

on this day that i speak of anorexia and a struggler....check out the book review (and give-away) over at amy's: http://amylsullivan.blogspot.com/2011/02/eating-disorder-full-and-book-for-you.html. she wrote a gracious review of my book, and we've opened up the comments for people to write me questions that i will answer. i've provided my regular wednesday-friday links below.

  1. O, Kendal! You beautiful, grace-filled servant of the Most High God! How he must love this young woman (and her daddy) to give you the gift of your presence in her life. Keep answering the phone, keep telling her you understand. God will do His thing through you!

  6. "i understand" are gift-words to the hurting. how beautiful it is that God turns our areas of pain and brokenness into beauty and ministry.

Thanks so much for you kind comments in regards to my daughter too - especially as you are a public school teacher :-) (which I was once too!)
