Mmmmm, yes. I have issues, too: clothes, accessories, houses, salaries, book deals, blog stats. I'm making my way through Deuteronomy these days -- so much to learn about idols from the Old Testament.
ReplyDeleteLove your list, too -- esp. #'s 95 and 97. Praising!
Thanks for linking up with your beautiful words and beautiful face...
WOW! That was amazing.
ReplyDeleteHow brave & how useful to name your idols - it is only when we recognise them as idols that we actually do something about them.
ReplyDeleteMe too. The channel needs to be changed. It's funny. I never think of "fun" as an idol, I just think of it as fun, but you are right, it can be.
ReplyDeleteYou should tell us more about 93.
I love talking to my sister on the phone! We try to do it every week. Looking through old family treasures is one of my favorite things to do!
ReplyDeleteTo have you as a mentor...a good thing.
ReplyDeleteMy daughter loves Cadbury eggs. I think of her everytime I see them.
My pastor has said that, if we look at the places in our lives where we find the deepest discontent, that is where we will find our idols. I think he's right.
ReplyDeletei don't always choose well, either. glad He chose me first : )
ReplyDeletebeautiful, beautiful. and i'm cheering extra hard for #s 93 and 95.
ReplyDeleteI need to change the channel often. Thanks for the encouragement. Enjoyed your list of thanksgiving, too.
ReplyDeleteFondly,
Glenda
Yes, I am tempted lately by new spring colors and shopping. Must keep Him first always!!!!
ReplyDelete"the victory is already his (god's)

this resonates deeply with where i'm at right now. i'm thankful for "your girl". will say a prayer for your husband.
oh, yes, idols...we no sooner smash one then acquire another! so thankful for the free and how it will be perfect forever, one day:)
ReplyDeleteso glad for chris (and you) it will be a great time, i'm sure, i'll be praying and love that teaching energizes you! so, so great!
ooh cadbury mini eggs! yum!
ReplyDeleteI wish I could say I always chose the good things. this post will help me reevaluate the choices I have been making and help me be more careful. Thank you.
ReplyDeleteGosh - I love this! My favorite is I am an american with idols and I need to change the channel...this is so simply deep...beautiful
ReplyDeletexo
so beautifully expressed, and wise.
ReplyDeleteI strive to be more at peace with less but it's hard.
This is what I just wrote about for Mommy on Fire -- the whole concept of idolatry and all the places it infiltrates my life. I'm with Tiffini -- we have the same favorite lines!
ReplyDeleteThanks for this post.....more and more I ask myself what am I allowing to take up space in my life and what has God blessed us with that we are taking for granted,
ReplyDeleteSo profound, needing to place God above other idols, remembering how easy it is to set up false gods. Thanks for your beauti
ReplyDelete"the desire to worship
ReplyDeletewas set on our hearts
in the beginning."...and without Him, where would we go? Sadly, my list could go on ad nauseum...thankfully, The Shepherd never stops caring for His wandering sheep.
This was very honest and I can relate to the list. It is time to get rid of those idols that have crept in and worship the one true God. Thank you!
