just sometimes

sometimes i feel ridiculous
like tonight
when i needed to feed the
pigs
i drove into the garage
and didn't
want to go upstairs
for mud shoes and a jacket of my own
so i donned
papa's XL red fleece
and
my son's beat up way-too-big nikes
to walk the .13 miles
blue sand bucket in hand
i had to take these really weird little steps
to keep the shoes on
and the jacket sleeves made me look like
my hands reached nearly to my knees
a caricature
of a woman making her way to
the pig pen
sometimes i feel ridiculous
like when i try things my own way
don't wait on god
don't seek his wisdom
a caricature
of a woman making her way through
life
sometimes i feel ridiculous

  5. Oh, I work for a veterinary and on the board at work someone is selling pot belly pigs. I have always wanted a pig! Yes, sometimes I feel ridiculous, especially if I don't wait for God. Thanks. You and I have something in common...we love the spacious place!

  8. boy do I know this " feel ridiculous" .. I truly fight this a lot. In everyday living. When I talk to someone at the grocery store, in a big room full of people, sometimes talking with friends, writing something, after talking with someone wondering if what I said was ridiculous....is this the caricature of me? ugh...I don't like it:(

  21. Ridiculous, too big sleeves, too big shoes, shuffling little tiny steps...and then the metaphor...wham - right into the heart!

  22. Thanks for the reminder to stop and seek God, because when we plunge ahead on our own, it's often a recipe for disaster. But you look mighty cute!
