sixty degrees
balmy
christmas isn't supposed
to feel like this
flowers blooming
strand of lights out
a santa hand broken
and
christmas isn't supposed
to feel like this
neighbor dying
missing cameron
missing pops
and
christmas isn't supposed
to feel like this
but
even though
the air is warm
the flowers are blooming
some lights aren't twinkling
a santa can't hold a bag
and
loved ones are absent,
there is one
clear truth
the word became
flesh
and made his
dwelling
among
us
and
he will be called
wonderful counselor
mighty god
everlasting father
prince
of
peace
and this is
christmas

ReplyDeleteYou always have away to remind us where to focus. Thank you my friend for your ever peaceful presence.
ReplyDeleteYep, Christmas doesn't feel quite right to me either, the second one without either of my parents.
ReplyDeleteBut yes, the Word did become flesh, and because of that, all his believers live, either here on earth or there in heaven, and Christmas is right.
Lovely post. I'm glad Christmas is more than just the trappings. Thanks for reminding me. Blessings!
ReplyDeleteMe too. Christmas has been off for me too. I know it's more of a head thing than a Christmas thing, but I understand your words.
ReplyDeleteYes. That *is* Christmas.
ReplyDeleteWord becoming flesh ...
Hoping and praying yours was good, even in the midst of the mess.
