when the goodbyes left

writing for five minutes on goodbye

i met this football player
in 1986
we went to a ballgame
for our first date
and
he kept calling and coming around
and
it was love
but the goodbyes
after the dates,
i hated them....
twenty years ago
he asked me the question
(i said yes)
and then knew
the goodbyes would leave
and this lack of goodbyes?
it is my favorite part
of
marriage

how about you? if you're married, what do you like most?

  3. I love this too!! My favorite part? Hm...after 29 years there is SO much I love about being married. Maybe it is nice long dinners w/wine and conversation or after dinner conversation. Or time away just the two of us - and it seems so wrong to say that because with only one adult child we really have a lot of time alone, but being away from home is different "alone" time.

This is a great post, Kendall!!

  6. In the military we still had some of those goodbyes. Nothing too bad though. Happy to not have to worry about any goodbyes like that anymore! I love being married! :)
