for chris: flowers from a ditch

queen anne's lace
adorns the dusty roadside
tall and white,
opening proud
and it's my wedding flower
it's strong,
difficult to uproot
and
it's beauty from nothing
and
it
is
always
which  is everything i want
us to be
protecting
trusting
hoping
persevering
always

what reminds you of your wedding?

  2. When I was little I used to fill our wagon full of Queen Ann's lace and my best friend would toss it out all over the neighborhood celebrating our weddings. Good memory.

What reminds me of my wedding? Cold starry nights.

  6. Love the picture of the soda bottle vase. Fits your verses well. My wedding was almost 42 years ago, and every time I look into my husband's sweet eyes I am reminded of my wedding and how God gave a 19 year old girl enough wisdom to marry such a fine man : )

  7. 'beauty from nothing'--i adore that image. makes me think of who i am in Christ: my nothing filled up by His everything.

sun and white and a rare duet by my brothers...that's what comes to mind when i think of my wedding.

  8. I love Queen Anne's lace, and love the idea that you used them in your wedding. Rose of Sharon remind me of my wedding, even though I didn't use them, because I thought of doing that, and they bloom all round our anniversary!

  9. I absolutely adore Queen Anne's Lace. I never thought about how its qualities well-represent a good marriage. So, sweet, Kendal.

  10. I love that he got them from the ditch. "My Sweet Lady" by John Denver was played during our wedding so any John Denver song reminds me of that day. And the color eggplant. A 1980 wedding. What can I say?
