dirt accumulates under my nails
as the weed pile grows
between corn stalks
and
this weeding is
always
and
dirty
and
tedious
and
ugly
but
this weeding
bestows life and beauty
and
doesn't my heart need it, too?
weeding?
so even though it will be
always and dirty and tedious and ugly
i ask the life-bestower
to
search me...and know my heart
try me and know my thoughts
and
see if there be any grievous way
in me
and lead me in the
way everlasting
because i
want
that
beauty

ReplyDeletemy garden needs your love and i do too! :)
ReplyDeleteYour words are sheer beauty! I'm echoing your heart's cry.. I want to be weeded out and made to grow. Thanks for reminding me of a marvelous verse to pray over myself and my children today.
ReplyDeletealways such wonderful lessons in gardening...it makes me think of the hymn...This is my Father’s world...He speaks to me everywhere. Blessings to you~
ReplyDeleteGreat message, thanks for giving me something to think and pray about...Dear Lord, please take the weeds from my heart...
ReplyDeleteBlessings...
I often think of heart matters when I am gardening. The weeding, the patience, the planting. The beauty and the good that comes after the hard work.
ReplyDeleteI did not know that chickens would kill snakes!! Boys weeding the garden... how wonderful to have someone help with that weeding job! :)
ReplyDeleteEvery time I weed, oh He lets me know what He would like to pull ... and then reseed and grow.
ReplyDeleteLove how you look at weeds and get inspired. I look at weeds and think, ahh, crap, more work.
ReplyDeleteseems to be so many lessons from the soil. Every time I am out in my garden He speaks to me, even in the weeds. I echo your sentiments here, pull those weeds from my heart Lord.
ReplyDeletei do pray that but not often enough - the process stinky and hard but the outcome is freeing.
ReplyDeleteWeeds make me itchy just thinking about them. Heart weeds are more painful, yet pull up easily with obedience. Your words always inspire and "wow" me.
