just some news about anti-depressants, chickens and my husband the missionary

  • i completely weaned myself off anti-depressants! and distressing dizziness followed. dizziness that huge chunks of cheddar cheese didn't help. tilt-a-whirl dizziness. should get off the ride in about a week, according to my very patient physician.
  • one of my chickens turned against me yesterday. she ruffled her feathers and displayed aggression instead of walking obediently into her coop when i told her to. i saw the same one peck the cat yesterday. i've got my eye on you, red chicken! in other news from the coop, we should begin getting eggs this week or the next.
  • if you're not my facebook friend, you might not know that i came across a frozen rattlesnake head and skin in my freezer yesterday. my father-in-law took them off my hands today since i could no longer open the door.
  • i wasn't going to talk about it, but my husband is away. far far far away. thousands of miles. on a wycliffe trip. i miss him in my very bones. but i'm peaceful about it because he is in god's will and i love that he seeks and listens and obeys. this is cause for joy.
  • i've read galatians five everyday this week. let us keep in step with the spirit. and this is my banner scripture for now.
so what's going on in your world?

  1. What does your husband do with Wycliffe and where is he? Anti-depressants.....been there and that was a very hard journey for sure! Love the banner scripture! Snakes don't scare me, though.....if it was a frozen spider....different story! ;) see you next week! :s

  3. So how do you get a rattlesnake in the freezer? I think I'd faint.

(On a more serious note, I'm praying for you right now, Kendal. Walking away from the screen to pray for a moment ... )

    1. thank you, jennifer. and the snake? my husband kille dit about a year ago - 51 inches. right beside our house. he skinned it and put it in the freezer thinking some person might want to make boots? i knew it was in there, but he had MOVED it, you see. so i didn't know what was in the wal-mart bag that i decided to open and shove my face into....

  5. Your tales always make me smile. Not long ago my five year old told me he saw the garden hose "wiggling' in the garage- turns out we had a whole family of snakes. Too bad they never climbed in the freezer- would have slowed them down!

Just wanted you to know that I gave a shout for your blog today on mine- passed on this little "Liebster Award" 'and encouraged readers to head your way. Thanks for using your words to glorify Him! (You can read what I wrote here : http://www.aliciabruxvoort.net/2012/07/spreading-love-five-amazing-women-youll.html)

Praying for you as you wait for your husband's return! Thanks for shining light through your words each week.

  7. I didn't know Chris was a recruiter for Wycliffe. My friend just came home from Niger, Africa with Wycliffe. They were there for 18 years. I know you're missing him but what an awesome call on ya'lls lives. I hope he has a great trip. Miss you my friend!

  9. Wow you've had a lot going on. I've not been on antidepressants. I refuse, but ive certainly felt Very blue at times. I'm not flogging my blog here but I discovered a grat new online self help tool made by the black dog institute. I've been giving a couple of the modules a go and it's been really helpful just to keep my myself in check in terms of the kinds of thoughts I think and where I go with them. My post is on my bachelormumstyle.blogspot.com.au site called when Bex and a lie down just won't do. Or the online tool is at mycompass (just search). I'm glad you're doing well. This stuff I shared is just if you feel like chasing it up. I just think its a good addition to our kit of happiness. X

  10. Wow that would have freaked me out to find that snake!! However if it would have been a mouse I probably would have been sick to my stomach.

I know how hard it can be when your hubby is away. I just sent up a prayer for you and your family.

I hope that chicken behaves. :)

    Have a great weekend.

Wow, what a cool trip for the hubby. I can't imagine how much you must miss him, but what a great cause. (Plus, you'll like him even more when he gets home!)

Thanks so much for stopping by today and adding me to your roll!
