prayers from the mush pot

twenty-one of us
circled the room,
ready
for evening meal
but the snaggle-toothed, karate-chopping
five-year-old
had ended up in the middle....
his mom asked him
to lead us in the blessing
and this mush pot prayer
reminded me that
god,
the almighty, living lord
hears us from
sanctuaries
beaches
mountain tops
low, dark valleys
and
even mush pots
and i needed that reminder
today

what small, everyday event lately has led you to remember god's presence?

continuing to count his gifts to 1000 -

701. quality, rollicking, awesome time with my extended family
702. my husband's work with wycliffe bible translators
703. text messages from husband

  2. Right there with you, Kendal.
I see Him in the motley crew of Christian community, too.

Us, with all our diversities and crazy stories. Hailing from different hometowns and different convictions and all speaking ONE VOICE.

Love becomes our Mother-tongue -- as we learn to listen to Him speaking.

  4. Small? They all seem so large these days. And everyday? Definitely. Seeing first steps for the second time around, I felt His hand in mine!

  6. My little man (17 months) just started "bowing" his head when we say the blessing. It's absolutely adorable.

  8. As I read my Bible this morning, my youngest crawled up into my lap. We spent a few quiet moments tangled up in each other. It reminded me that I find peace in His presence.

  9. Hello there ... I'm visiting from SDG ... loved this post.

Silence in the early morning with coffee in hand and dog at feet reminds me that God is faithful ...
