what do teachers pray?

804 is ready
and this is my
prayer
for teachers and learners
from preschool to college
at
home, private or public -
Lord give us all
peace
eyes-wide-open
joy
laughter
wonder
compassion
wisdom
and
love
that you will be glorified
amen

what would you add to this list?

  1. My prayer is to be focused on what I love to do and to do it as if Jesus Himself were sitting on my risers, in the conference room, in the main office and with my colleagues

  2. Love this! As a former public school teacher turned homeschooling-one-but-sending-one-to-public-school-mommy - praying that He would be glorified this year.

  3. I remember prayers as a homeschool mama....some of the best times in my life.

  4. Hi Kendal! I am coming over from Unforced Rhythms. I think I would add the gift of insight. To discern the joys and sorrows of each child I teach. You can't know everything about your children, but even just a fact or two can help direct you to be a positive impact.
    Have a great year!

  5. Beautiful, Kendal. Your list is so complete. I might add "attentiveness" since I struggle with giving someone my whole attention.

  7. Praise as they learn, love as they may be hungry for that, ability to focus on what they are supposed to be learning...these little ones that I tutor have already lost confidence in themselves and that is almost more my job than teaching them how to read. For the teachers, I pray for a calm spirit, a joy in teaching, a deliberate willingness to teach with the love of Jesus. They can make such a difference in each child's life.

  8. Amen. And I would add acceptance...a laying down of judgment and loving each other with abandon, in a Christ-like, holy way.

  11. Yes - I can see this prayer covering - I love the 'eyes wide open' and the wonder - but on both sides of the learning. Yes.

  15. You said it, sister. Perfect list! Hmmm... I think I might add "ability to encourage." To encourage students, those around us and even ourselves on hard days.

So glad you shared this over at #EverydayJesus! Thank you. So very much.

  16. Wonderful list. I would add forgiveness to the list. So many times when I was in school I held way too many grudges. Happy SONday!
