a poem and three trillium opening

april (on our hill)

dirt under my fingernails
polish on my toenails
backache
sunburned nose
birkenstocks
thinking about how a mattock
can make dirt softer
but it hurts
feeling amazed that trees
regale us with their
greenness
newness
even after a wicked winter
noticing patient snowmen
awaiting their summer home (a cardboard box)
ignoring the snowmen so
i can hike the new path
with chris hank jack
standing in awe of
god's
creation
plan
love
wondering what's next

I think because the winter was so harsh, I am enjoying the promise of spring even more this year!
