maybe it's summer's end
cicadas trilling through afternoon
crickets joining in at dusk
dry garden
school supplies out at wal-mart
maybe it's summer's end
that makes me want to be
still
i would be content
to stare out the window today
and let that be all
but i'll allow schedule
to propel me forward
after i have
had
my few minutes of
still
he said
be still
and
know
that i am god
it's in the still
that i know
anything
at
all

Good morning, Kendal. This is so peaceful and beautiful. So pleasant to read with my cup of coffee this morning.
ReplyDeleteJust makes me sigh relief for a moment.
{I have the link up now for Studio JRU} Thanks for stopping in this morning.
That was so lovely, thank you!

Beautiful words... Praying that your few minutes of still with Him restore your soul.
ReplyDeleteGlad I took a moment out of the schedule to be still with you this morning, Kendal. Thank you for the reminder that every day is better that way.
ReplyDeleteGood morning,
ReplyDeleteThis really resonated with me today. I was filling up my car on the way to work this morning and I had the strongest desire to be sitting on the beach somewhere with the breeze blowing and doing absolutely nothing but sitting there and being still. I think God is trying to tell me something. I love Him so!!
Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteHere from Five Minute Friday.
Thanks for sharing!
I long for stillness...this summer has really been a busy one. Thank you for the beautiful way you express your thoughts. God bless your day!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!
ReplyDeleteBlessings
i can't tell you how many times i read your poetry and think: me too.
ReplyDeleteso grateful for you.
I could look out the window with you. I am realizing today that since I have been back home from She Speaks, I have not stopped moving. I've done my quiet time, but all the day long, I am busy. I need me some Sabbath.
ReplyDeleteWe have another month until school starts, but I can feel summer slipping away. too. Although, seeing school supplies at Walmart makes me smile! LOVE them!

ReplyDeleteBeautiful imagery Kendal. I was just thinking about how it must be starting to move towards the end of summer for you guys up north there.
ReplyDeleteLove the way you knit words together, Kendal :)
ReplyDeleteI can hear your cicadas, all trilling.
ReplyDeleteI can see you there, chilling and stilling.
Isn't God thrilling?
:)
I laid on my couch in the quiet of the morning before starting my day. NOURISHING...
