not sure what i expected

writing for five minutes on unexpected

i don't know what i
expected
the wiggling little infants
the boys wrapped in baby blankets
i don't know what i
expected
the toddlers building towers
watching little bear and blues clues
i don't know what i
expected
but
they
grew
up
and the voices are deep
and they hold doors for me
and they pray out loud their thanks for me
i don't know what i
expected
but i don't have babies anymore
i have young men whose company i
enjoy
i have young men who make me
laugh
i have young men who love god above
all
and it seems so unexpected

i have a post here today as well!

  1. I loved this! I have two boys who waved a magic scarf and became men too. (Mine are one month away from 19 and 17.) Totally agree...every day has kept this mama discovering the unexpected. Beautiful post!
