an early morning question

i found a word-surprise
in scripture
this morning
jesus was teaching
in the temple courts
and mark says
that the large crowd
listened to him
with delight
and
i imagined people enraptured with
joyfulness and smiles
and
do i really listen to him with
delight?

what scriptures have spoken to you lately?

  1. Colossians 1 for me. What if I delighted in it all, not just my favorite passages? Thanks for sharing!

  2. Sometimes -- and then there are times when I pretend to listen (right??) because I am afraid of what He'll say!

  3. The psalms seem to speak to me this way lately. Maybe its the writer in me loving the prose. But they didn't hit me that way before.

  4. Last year was my year of "Depend and Delight" so I tried to notice delight as I read through scripture. It was amazing. He IS delightful and I need to be reminded often to delight as I listen to him. Thanks, Kendal!

  6. I think for me, it depends on what He's trying to tell me :) My delight is basically based on what I think I want. This is a challenging post for me! I'm glad you pointed that word out. I want to be delighted when I read His words.

  7. Delight is such a beautiful word to incorporate into my 'looking glass' - shouldn't so many things be seen and received that way?
    Thanks and with love.

  12. Great insight, Kendal! My reading today was about how Peter raised Dorcas back to life. I thought how appropriate since Ann Voskamp had bloggers remember Christ's resurrection. So I'm considering what other people and things God can resurrect in my life today! :)

  13. Isaiah 33:2,6: "Lord, be gracious to us; we long for you. Be our strength every morning, our salvation in times of distress. He will be the sure foundation for your times, a rich store of salvation and wisdom and knowledge; the fear of the Lord is the key to this treasure."

He has been -- He IS -- all of this to our family!

  17. delight--what a frame of heart. this morning in a psalm, God spoke this: that He redeems our mourning and clothes us with gladness so that we'll sing his glory. it's all for him, and my is he worth it.
