welcome to the himalayas (knowing-jesus-more)

GET Global 2014 - June Himalayas Trip
site from which i swiped this pic

my friend amy is writing about risk these days
for me, the word risk conjures notions of
leaving home
did i mention discomfort?
but god
calls us to mountain tops sometimes
for me this is a literal-thing-in-june
i'm joining my husband's mission team to the himalayas
but jesus with his compassion-heart
meets fear and faith on the road
maybe, to know-jesus-more
i need to

how about you? any risks looming on the horizon?

  1. Exodus 24:12 (HCSB) Come up to Me on the mountain and stay there,...

This is my scripture for 2014.

  2. You are going to be amazed and blessed and heartbroken and fall in love. (That last made me sound like a fortune teller at a carnival.) Really. I headed up a mission team last year and can't wait to do it again. God bless your willing heart.

  3. Wow! I can so appreciate when people do the hard thing in the midst of fear. That's what courage is, isn't it? Not the absence of the fear, but in the presence of it. Stepping out of our comfort zones is never easy, but the reward can be more amazing then we can imagine. Best of luck on your adventure!

  4. Kendal - Headed on missions with my husband in just a few weeks too! It will be so weird without the kids! So glad to see God is calling us both out of our comfort zones, and how as faith rises, His blessings will be tucked away somewhere deep in this obedience!

  5. Oh magnificent! I can't wait to hear more about this adventure. Life's will be impacted and change due to your risk. Go forth and be blessed!

  6. I have questions about this trip:
What are you going to eat there?
Is this the first trip you and Chris have been on together?
Who will take care of the chickens and cat?

    1. not sure what we will eat...RISK!
our 5th trip together, but this will be the longest and farthest
the teenager and nana we leave behind will weed and feed!

  7. Wow! That's so cool. I can't imagine going out of the country. So excited for you! Risk it! Cheers!

  8. Yay! After going to Africa, I want to go on missions like that again, but I don't know where. Any time you take a trip like that it is a little scary. I'm proud of you!

  9. Kendal this is awesome and scary - can't wait to hear more about it.

  10. Umm... WOW! I found your site from The Weekend Brew, and I am so glad I did. Praying for you as you risk! I decided to choose an un-word for 2014: unsafe. I have no idea where God will lead me with it, but yeah, it's going to involve some risks! Thank you so much for sharing your heart with all of us. I'm inspired.

  11. mmm ... He somehow takes our terror and transforms it into something radiant. blessings as you give Him all that chokes you with fear. and can I tell you how much I admire your answer to His invitation, Kendal ...

  12. Oooo Kendal, that is exciting and risky!! It's gonna be really great to see what God does while you travel with Him. Prayers and blessings on this #riskrejection journey!

  13. *Hug hug* Thank you for being so brave and following Jesus's heart. :) Looking forward to hearing about your adventures....

  14. What a beautiful journey He's taking you on. I am hoping to take a risk and join a missions team later this year! Blessings!
