welcome to the himalayas (knowing-jesus-more)

GET Global 2014 - June Himalayas Trip
site from which i swiped this pic

my friend amy is writing about risk these days
sigh.
for me, the word risk conjures notions of
discomfort
vulnerability
leaving home
and....
did i mention discomfort?
but god
calls us to mountain tops sometimes
and
for me this is a literal-thing-in-june
i'm joining my husband's mission team to the himalayas
and
i
am
terrified
but jesus with his compassion-heart
meets fear and faith on the road
and
maybe, to know-jesus-more
i need to
go

how about you? any risks looming on the horizon?

  1. Exodus 24:12 (HCSB) Come up to Me on the mountain and stay there,...

This is my scripture for 2014.

  2. You are going to be amazed and blessed and heartbroken and fall in love. (That last made me sound like a fortune teller at a carnival.) Really. I headed up a mission team last year and can't wait to do it again. God bless your willing heart.

  3. Wow! I can so appreciate when people do the hard thing in the midst of fear. That's what courage is, isn't it? Not the absence of the fear, but in the presence of it. Stepping out of our comfort zones is never easy, but the reward can be more amazing then we can imagine. Best of luck on your adventure!

  4. Kendal - Headed on missions with my husband in just a few weeks too! It will be so weird without the kids! So glad to see God is calling us both out of our comfort zones, and how as faith rises, His blessings will be tucked away somewhere deep in this obedience!

  6. I have questions about this trip:
What are you going to eat there?
Is this the first trip you and Chris have been on together?
Who will take care of the chickens and cat?

  10. Umm... WOW! I found your site from The Weekend Brew, and I am so glad I did. Praying for you as you risk! I decided to choose an un-word for 2014: unsafe. I have no idea where God will lead me with it, but yeah, it's going to involve some risks! Thank you so much for sharing your heart with all of us. I'm inspired.
