26 words to start your day

dreading the day?
feeling overwhelmed?
i accidentally looked at my calendars
this morning
which always makes me feel
boxed-in-and-suffocating
so i'm saying  these 26 words today....
shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.
worship the Lord with gladness;
come before him with joyful songs.

know that the Lord is God.
amen

what is one of your go-to scriptures for the overwhelming days?

  1. These verses always comfort me:

    "But now, O Jacob, listen to the Lord who created you.
    O Israel, the one who formed you says,
    “Do not be afraid, for I have ransomed you.
    I have called you by name; you are mine.
    When you go through deep waters,
    I will be with you.
    When you go through rivers of difficulty,
    you will not drown.
    When you walk through the fire of oppression,
    you will not be burned up;
    the flames will not consume you.
    For I am the Lord, your God..."

    (Isaiah 43:1-3, NLT)

    Never alone, we can face it all with the presence of our God and Savior.

    GOD BLESS!

  2. Oh, I know the feeling. And on those days (often Mondays, right?) I make it a point to hush the inner dialogue and take time to listen. The stillness that is above and beyond and within sometimes directs me to words or a song ... sometimes just reminds me to trust. That I am small and that's okay because I was meant to be. Thanks for joining us for Unforced Rhythms, Kendal.

  3. This morning as my son and I were studying together, this verse jumped out at me.
    Psalm 33:6 By the word of the Lord were the heavens made, and all the hosts of them by the breath of his mouth.
    Sometimes I just need to be reminded of how BIG our God is. Thanks for the encouraging words this morning.

  4. When I "know that the Lord is God" - and not, for instance, me! - that is indeed reason to "shout for joy!" Great way to re-focus a muddled Monday mind. My go-to? Good old Psalm 23 seems to cover all the bases, especially when I'm fending off anxiety:
    The Lord is my Shepherd; I shall lack nothing.
    He makes me lie down in green pastures;
    He leads me beside quiet waters;
    He restores my soul.
    He guides me in paths of righteousness for His name's sake.
    Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
    I will fear no evil, for You are with me;
    Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.
    You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
    You anoint my head with oil;
    my cup overflows.
    Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life,
    and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever!"

  5. So grateful to read this Scripture .... "know that the Lord is God". Know it. Believe it. Remember it. Trust it.
    I am glad I linked up just before you at Tell His Story. Blessings!

  6. Oh, your post title grabbed me- because on Monday anything beyond 26 words puts me in a tailspin! lol. But I did find great encouragement in these verses as well this AM: Psalm 146:5-6 Blessed are those whose help is the God of Jacob,
    whose hope is in the Lord their God.
    6 He is the Maker of heaven and earth,
    the sea, and everything in them—
    he remains faithful forever.

    Some days certain things jump out...and this morning- that He remains faithful forever, sets my heart on Rest mode instead of stress mode!

  7. Mine is "The one who called me is faithful and will do it." ~1 Thessalonians 5:24

    I am also memorizing Psalm 16 and it is rocking my face off. Thanks for sharing, Kendal-- and it was great to "meet" you via Amy's book launch challenge. You are too awesome.

  8. Beautiful scripture and many in the comments bless me continually. Today I am clinging to, "I believe that I shall look upon the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living!" (Psalm 27:13) Looking for His goodness around every corner!
