collywobbles

i have the collywobbles today
what?
you don't know this word?
(col·ly·wob·bles
[noun]ˈkälēˌwäb(ə)lz/
a feeling of
fear
apprehension
or
nervousness)
i am often collywobbly,
walking into school in the mornings
on the jelly legs
of a
world-class worrywart
or
sending the husband a frantic
i-need-to-know-you're-alive text....
how can i see the blood root,
braving the cold spring mornings
and not believe that
the steadfast love of the Lord
never
ceases?
how can i see the sun rise bright orange over the knob
and not believe that
for those who
love
God
all things work together
for
good?
i don't have
answers
today
i just have
the
collywobbles

do you struggle with worry? what do you do about it?

(thank you, brother cam, for the word of the day.)

  1. love the new word my friend and I loved hearing from you today :) Yes, I struggle with worry and usually it's in relation to my kids. I attend a Mom's In Prayer group at our school and this is a really big help as we take our kids to the Lord in some serious prayer coverage. Other times I call a friend and ask for prayer. And then other times.....well other times I eat chocolate......like more than I should.

  2. Ah, thank you for the new word! I too often have the Collywobbles, especially on Monday mornings. Sometimes maybe just the naming of it helps? And also the knowledge that it will pass. Thanks so much for participating at #SmallWonder.

  3. Oh, Kendal, as a teacher of the littles (K-3rd) the word 'collywobbles' is perfect. To teach them and to use myself.
I am often collywobbled about many things....I wake up at 3 am and think and think and think.Kids stuff, grandkid stuff, husband stuff, life stuff. Oy! Then voila! I wake up and the world is fine. It is hard to trust in God's sovereignty and power, I believe that's why He gives us a lifetime to learn it.

  4. I like that word! I'm adding it to my vocabulary. Life gives us many reasons daily to feel nervous. It's such a relief to turn it all over to God. I just wish I remembered it before I started the worry.
