fog, running and isn't this life?

i pulled my hood up
for the bottom land
where fog lifted off the creek
and the air was
cold
cold
cold
but i didn't stop
one foot then the other
one foot then the other
it's uphill,
out of the fog,
and isn't this life?
uphill,
out of life-sapping
fear
grief
worry
depression
(the list is longer but who wants to read it?)
but we can't stop
one foot then the other
one foot then the other
hemmed in,
behind and before,
by the one who
has overcome the world
i topped the hill
(not limping)
pulled off my hood
and
ran on

what's your fog, your bottom land? and how do you get out?

  2. You have me thinking...having some issues with fog. So thankful there's a way out of the fog--He has overcome the world!

  3. One foot, then the other. Over and over and over. All the footsteps that count as our journey. All important. Thanks, Kendal. Beautifully insightful as usual.

  4. Beautiful. Fog...yep, I understand fog. Laughter lifts it for me at times. Exercise and eating right always help when the fog is thick for me. The reviving Word and praying friends also. Glad you topped that hill and felt renewed. Love you!

  5. Haha! I love this. Mary @ the calm of His presence, just a few links past yours at Ann's wrote about fog today. It's clear here in Wyoming but I just love how God speaks to us through each other & inspires us to desire to "see" Him more clearly! Love & prayers, in Jesus, Cynthia

  6. He sees us--even through the fog. And not only waits, but chases after. This is a foggy time of year for me--busy, busy, busy.

  7. These words brought a tear and stop a breath "out of life-sapping
    fear
    grief
    worry
    depression
(the list is longer but who wants to read it?)
    but we can't stop
    one foot then the other"

That's life!! There is more we all struggle with, but who cares. So thankful you are putting one foot in front of the other -- learning from your example here. Beautiful.

  8. I know the fog. Thankful that the Father knows me! I can't run long distance so I appreciate the analogy.

  9. This is one of the most important take-aways I got from my hike in the Alps last summer: Each step forward is a victory. Each step forward is a gift.

And I spent one day literally hiking through a cloud--and hated it. I told my husband that the things which unnerve me most are being tired, being scared, and not knowing how much further I have to go.

Kinda sounds a little like life, doesn't it?

  10. Isn't this true...He often has us run through the difficulty so we can experience the victory when we run out of the fog.
